Natura Artis Magistra
once in a very rare occasion, assembly actually has some meaning for me.
yesterday's assembly was one in accordance with humanities week in accordance with earth day.
so it was about nature and recent problems on climate change.
i actually found some of the things the 2 speakers spoke about very very interesting and meaningful.
the biggest thing i picked up was
Natura Artis Magistra (i think he said natura magistra artis. i do not know if he or the internet is right).
its actually latin for nature is the mother of art.
at first i could not understand it but the speaker said in layman's terms it meant god's creation is the mother of man's creation.
whether or not his layman translation was accurate or not, i realised how deep that phrase meant.
the idea of art being man's creation (which is indeed very true) and nature being god's creation was something i thought to be really true.
then he went on to say after some time that buildings will fall while nature will live forever.
which again i thought to be really great.
the link and connection was something i thought to be true.
i've always thought nature to be the supreme being on this earth.
man stands on just a little leaf in the grand amazon.
but the problem is we do not
help support life, we destroy it.
and we are actually the only specie that does it.
nature as well as all things on this earth is actually in equilibrium.
every specie balances out for another
every natural phenomenon equals out another (even the climate)
every natural instinct is actually for the sake of another.
every thing except man's theological and practical creations.
every animal in this kingdom
help to support the life of another except for us, humans.
without, humans nature would really be at peace.
every thing was in equilibrium till man decided to advance themselves and not the rest of nature.
the action of every man against another man is actually just like any animal.
they fight for land, for power often resulting in death.
so actually man, as i see it, is just like any animal.
but no animal hurts nature. the killing of another animal is in fact equalising nature's growth.
but no animal hurts nature directly.
no animal except man.
which is why i feel man is nature's greatest enemy.
man is the greatest foe in nature.
every thing else rests in equilibrium.
much of man does as well.
but many a times we upset this peaceful equilibrium.
yet ultimately, i believe nature will triumph over man.
